“Slavery and Abolitionism on Cape Cod” Presentation

Join us for a 50-minute presentation that brings these events to visual imagery. Author Dr. Michael V. Pregot discusses his book Slavery and Abolitionism on Cape Cod: A Massachusetts Incongruity” which delivers information about the number and types of slaves (Indigenous, Black. White, and Indentured) who lived and worked here on the Cape. “The book discusses religious views, political platforms, economic factors, and social movements that existed during the pre-Civil War period. We gain an insight into the thinking of the day. Sharing several profiles of notable Black slaves living in Massachusetts demonstrates the enormous contributions made to the overall growth of our country.”

Please join us at the Pilgrim Lodge, 706 Main Street, Harwich Center, MA 02645. Entrance on the side of building, presentation will be on the second floor.
